The 5 Best Firms with Structural Engineers in Nashville for Worry-Free Builds

best-structural-engineers-nashville
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Specialization and Focus: We looked at exactly what each firm does best. A company that specializes in industrial setups might not be the right fit for your home addition.

  • Experience and Licensing: We checked the background of the principal engineers leading the teams. Having seasoned professionals ensures your project meets all strict safety codes.

  • Customer Communication: We evaluated the firm's effectiveness in communicating with its clients. Complex engineering math needs to be explained clearly to homeowners and contractors alike.

  • Project Turnaround: We considered how quickly a firm can deliver their stamped plans. Fast-moving real estate deals often fall apart if the engineering reports take too long.

Finding a reliable professional to assess a cracked basement wall, review renovation plans, or inspect a historic property is an important step for any Nashville property owner.

Whether you’re a homeowner worried about foundation damage or an investor flipping an older home, structural safety isn’t something you want to leave to guesswork.

That’s why choosing the best structural engineer in Nashville is so important. A skilled engineer helps ensure your project is safe, compliant, and cost-effective.

To help you find trusted professionals, we looked at top local firms with experience in Nashville soil, codes, and building needs!

A focused opinion on warehouse systems can help businesses avoid costly layout and installation mistakes. Epiq Engineering provides this through a highly specialized approach built entirely around the material handling industry.

They handle industrial storage racks, conveyor systems, and other logistics-focused structures, making them a strong fit for warehouses and distribution centers.

They even offer a proprietary online software tool that helps clients quickly create preliminary designs.

It’s also notable that their leaders hold both P.E. and S.E. licenses, which adds confidence to their technical recommendations. Instead of offering generic solutions, the team focuses on practical designs that can save money during installation.

Overall, their narrow focus works well for B2B operations. It does mean they’re not suited for cracked residential foundations, regular office buildings, or one-off consumer projects, though.

Pros

  • Highly specialized warehouse focus
  • Strong material handling expertise
  • Proprietary design software available
  • Licensed engineering leadership
  • Practical, cost-saving designs

Cons

  • Not suited for residential work
  • Too specialized for general projects

Customer Reviews

They are great to work with

We use Jordan and the team at Epiq for all our project engineering needs.  They are great to work with.  Their responsiveness and “can-do” attitude vastly exceed any engineering relationships we have used previously.  I would highly recommend Jordan and his team for all your engineering services.

They care about their customers

Epiq engineering has been a true partner to my company for the past several years.  Their speed and accuracy on not only stamped drawings but preliminary calculations have allowed my company to prosper by quotes getting out quicker and projects with permitting completed on schedule especially projects with fast timelines.  They are true pleasure to work with and care about their customers.

Handling historic rehabilitation or multi-state structural work often requires more than a standard engineering firm. That’s where EMC Structural Engineers stands out.

The firm combines nationwide licensing across all 50 states, with deep expertise in historic building rehabilitation. In our books, this makes them a strong option for developers working across different markets.

Plus, with over 280 years of combined team experience, their engineers bring serious technical depth to each project.

We were also impressed to see their portfolio, which includes award-winning architectural designs. This is especially helpful for landmark properties where structure and appearance both matter.

Their local credibility says a lot, too. As a recognized Small Business Enterprise in Metro Nashville, they can help developers meet municipal vendor requirements.

One drawback is their boutique size. With around 10 licensed engineers, they may face slower timelines if given a large volume of simultaneous mega-projects.

Pros

  • Licensed in all 50 states
  • Expertise in historic rehabilitations
  • Strategic SBE status for Metro contracts
  • Strong local Nashville portfolio

Cons

  • Boutique size limits massive volume capacity
  • Workload bandwidth fluctuates by season

Large commercial builds often need experienced engineers who can stay involved from planning to completion. Structural Design Group stands out by promising direct principal-level involvement on every project they take on.

They’re one of the largest structural engineering firms in Tennessee, with leaders who bring nearly 200 years of combined design experience. Their size allows them to handle complex projects with construction values over $500 million.

They work across healthcare, hospitality, industrial facilities, and other major sectors. Their strong local reputation and team culture also add confidence for clients managing high-stakes builds.

Since they focus heavily on large commercial work, they may not be the most cost-effective choice for minor residential repairs or simple home renovations.

That said, for clients who need serious structural capacity, their experience and scale are practically unmatched in the area.

Pros

  • Direct principal-level involvement
  • Large-scale commercial expertise
  • Deep structural design experience
  • Handles highly complex projects
  • Strong local reputation

Cons

  • Less cost-effective for small residential work
  • Not ideal for simple home renovations

4. Alliance Engineering & Consulting, LLC

Website: https://formalliances.com/

Address: 480 Duke Dr, Ste 120, Franklin

Contact: 615-801-2571 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday, Wednesday to Friday 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Tuesday 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Coordinating site prep can be easier when key services are handled in one place. Alliance Engineering & Consulting stands out by offering structural engineering, civil design, and surveying under one roof.

Their team is known for strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to meet tight project deadlines. They also follow a purpose-driven philosophy, believing that strong engineering starts with a healthy, values-based team culture.

With their faith-based approach, their work environment has a more personal feel. However, it may not appeal to companies looking for a strictly secular partnership.

Another possible drawback is their Franklin headquarters, which may be less convenient for clients needing frequent site visits in downtown Nashville. Their all-in-one model may also feel like more than you need for a basic standalone service.

Pros

  • All-in-one engineering support
  • Strong detail and communication
  • Reliable with tight deadlines
  • Values-based team culture

Cons

  • Faith-based approach may not fit everyone
  • Franklin location may be less convenient
  • Too broad for basic standalone needs

The whole company truly embodies its mission statement and core values

Working with them for the past two years has been a very undeniable experience. The understanding, professionalism and excellence of the team is truly top-notch. The whole company truly embodies their mission statement and core values.

Their reports are very thorough

I’ve personally worked with them on several projects now. To say the communication was superb would be an understatement.

Their reports are very thorough and Mr. Spradlin is extremely knowledgeable. He was very responsive throughout the whole process and we will most definitely use them again.

5. United Structural Systems

united-structural-systems

Website: https://www.usstn.com/

Address: 315 Deadrick Street, Suite 1700

Contact: 629-302-0624

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8 AM–5 PM; Friday, 8 AM–4 PM

Foundation issues often require more than a written diagnosis. United Structural Systems stands out by offering hands-on foundation repairs backed by free, transferable lifetime warranties.

They focus on practical repair work instead of just drafting blueprints. They also provide free structural diagnostics, which helps homeowners understand the problem without upfront payment pressure.

Their honesty is especially reassuring. During one inspection for a worrisome floor sag, they explained that it was only a minor joist issue and didn’t need expensive foundation piers.

That said, they’re not an independent engineering consulting firm. If you need an unbiased report for a real estate transaction, they may not be the right fit.

Their services are also limited to repairs to existing structures and waterproofing. However, for homeowners who need straightforward foundation remediation, their transparency and warranty coverage make them a very practical choice.

Pros

  • Hands-on foundation repair focus
  • Free structural diagnostics
  • Honest repair recommendations
  • Transferable lifetime warranty
  • Practical for foundation remediation

Cons

  • Not an independent consulting firm
  • Not ideal for unbiased real estate reports
  • Limited to repairs and waterproofing

Customer Reviews

We couldn’t be happier that we used USS

Every step of the process from Jason coming to my home and providing and estimate and understanding the work to be done, to Evan performing the work and explaining everything as he went, to Maddie being so pleasant in coordinating the scheduling and keeping me informed. A great team effort. We couldn’t be happier that we used USS on our driveway needs.

Very professional organization

Very professional organization, from the estimater, to scheduling, the foreman, the job site leader, and his crew. The communication through the total project was excellent. I received ETA, both days and a thumb nail review of the first days work. The dog was extensive, but after the clean up it’s as though it didn’t happen. The work and finished job looks great! The warranty stays with the house and I was told if there is ever an issue just contact USS and they will make it right. My crew was Ben Chester, Dalton Cole, Robert Ball, all great guys!
