Nashville is famous for hot chicken and honky-tonks, but the local culinary landscape has evolved dramatically.
If you are hunting for the best tapa in Nashville, you are in for a serious treat. From hidden neighborhood gems serving authentic Spanish bites to lively downtown spots perfect for sharing plates, Music City has fully embraced the small-plate culture.
I spent the last few weeks eating my way through town to find the standout menus. Prepare to split crispy patatas bravas and explore menus that rival the finest restaurants in the South.

1. Barcelona Wine Bar

Contact: 615.327.0600
Hours: Mon–Thu 4 PM–10 PM; Fri 4 PM–12 AM; Sat 11 AM–12 AM; Sun 11 AM–10 PM
When I first stepped into the Edgehill location, the energy of the communal dining space was impossible to miss. The place has a lively, social vibe that immediately sets the tone for a fun night out.
I really love its chef-driven tapas menu. It changes with the seasons, so every visit feels a little different and keeps things interesting.
Their win selection is great oo. They offer an impressively large lineup of Spanish and South American wines, all thoughtfully chosen to pair with their small plates.
During my visit, the server even introduced me to a porrón pour. It’s a traditional Spanish way of sharing wine that added a playful, interactive element to my evening.
That said, popularity can be a double-edged sword here. The energetic atmosphere makes it perfect for groups, but it also means walk-ins often deal with long wait times during peak hours.

It was a good place having some tapas. We tried to go on Sunday night and it was packed and long wait. We made reservations for Monday, it was good. Our waiter was good but brought us the wrong tapa at one point, and twice we had servers keep mistaking our tapas for another table. But overall very good time.

Barcelona Wine Bar honestly surprised me. I didn’t expect it to be this good. The food was amazing, the drinks were spot on, and the whole place had such a nice vibe. The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better. I would definitely go back again. It’s one of those spots that just hits right.

2. Peninsula

Hours: Thu–Sat 5 PM–10 PM
If you’re looking for a more refined and exclusive dining experience, this East Nashville spot definitely feels like a hidden gem.
They focus on a sophisticated blend of Spanish and Portuguese flavors, but what really makes the menu stand out is how those influences are elevated with French techniques.
The result is a lineup of dishes that feels creative and noticeably different from what you’ll find elsewhere in the city.
What impressed me most was the atmosphere. With only about 35 seats, the space feels intentionally intimate, allowing the staff to give each table plenty of attention.
They take time to walk you through the shareable plates, offering thoughtful descriptions that make the experience feel more personal.
Their gin and tonic program is another highlight. It features unique botanicals carefully chosen to pair with the constantly evolving menu.
The only real drawback is availability. Because the space is so small and popular, spontaneity isn’t really an option here. Reservations are strongly recommended, and walk-in spots are extremely limited.

Delicious menu, cozy atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. This is a wonderland for those who love tapas and small plates. Presentation is super unique; however, it doesn’t distract from the incredible food. Great date night spot for an easy win! And y’all need to figure out how I can get the maitake broth mainlined into my veins! I dream about that stuff 🥰

We’ve eaten at Peninsula several times, and it is always excellent. Food is served tapas-style, and the selection is always interesting and delicious. Though the menu changes regularly, favorites stick around. For the cocktail lover, the bar is delightful. Their gin and tonic menu is diverse and well-curated, as are the cocktails on general. Perfect for a date night or drinks.

Focusing heavily on authentic pork-forward dishes, The Iberian Pig builds its entire culinary identity around imported Jamón and traditional Spanish flavors.
Unlike standard bars, they offer a daily specialized happy hour featuring curated charcuterie and discounted house sangria. I find it a great place to pass around delicious food and chat the night away.
Their modern beverage program highlights fantastic Spanish wines designed specifically to cut through the richness of the meats and cheeses.
For anyone hunting for traditional tapas in Nashville, this menu offers a wide variety of authentic options.
After finishing a savory meal here, you might even be tempted to skip the nearby cake shops and order another plate of manchego instead.
Just remember that they operate exclusively as a dinner destination, so lunchtime cravings are off the table.

Snagged two lucky seats at the bar on a packed Saturday night before our jazz show at Rudy’s down the street—and I mean lucky because the wait for a table was an hour and a half. Used to hit the Decatur location back in college so I knew what I was getting into, and Nashville’s spot absolutely delivered the same quality. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, explaining each tapas dish with precision and making perfect recommendations. Cocktails were top-notch and honestly the entire meal was the culinary highlight of my Nashville weekend.

This restaurant checked all of the boxes —ambiance was perfect and I love the moody lighting, it was welcoming and we were immediately greeted and offered a seat at the bar since we were a little early for our reservation. The sangria was delicious and the food was outstanding. Our server Bailey was so knowledgeable about the menu. She answered our questions and offered great recommendations based on our likes and she was spot on. She delivered perfect service and the courses were paced out perfectly !!! We can’t wait to come back and eat our way through the menu.

Address: 5005 Broadway
Contact: (615) 245-7160
Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11 AM-10 PM, Friday-Saturday 11 AM-11 PM
Boqueria Fifth + Broadway channels the lively energy of Spain’s famous markets, bringing a vibrant communal dining experience to downtown Nashville.
The massive open kitchen and shared tables make it feel like you are sitting in a bustling European plaza.
I grabbed a seat at the bar last Friday and was impressed by the seasonal paella and perfectly fried churros. They were excellent.
The restaurant also offers a Spanish-inspired brunch with creative small plates and free-flowing drinks, making it a fun stop before heading out to the downtown honky-tonks.
The only downside is that the dining room can get extremely loud and hectic during peak evening hours because of its location in the heart of a major new development.
Customer Reviews
Great food. They serve small plates, we didn’t know that, but we had a great server that day. We got there an hour before the time they close and he was still very polite and friendly. He even offer to take pictures of us, that had never happen to us before and is a detail we appreciate very much. It was our third anniversary.
The place is very clean and has a cozy atmosphere, makes you feel like you are on a highly elegant place, but for two people still pretty affordable.

Extremely friendly service! Very Clean. The menu has everything Tapas. For 2 people came to just over fifty bucks. Sharing plates is recommended since it is Tapas. The brussel sprouts were great, made with cranberries! Grab your favorite drinks, relax and enjoy.

Tucked quietly in the charming Sylvan Park neighborhood, Lola feels like a hidden gem far removed from the flashing neon of Broadway.
The restaurant focuses on a welcoming philosophy. They combine authentic flavors like albondigas with modern twists, such as their popular veggie gilda.
The staff emphasizes warm, community-focused hospitality, encouraging guests to return for the experience as much as the food.
Their beverage program highlights Portuguese and Spanish wines, offering patrons the chance to try lesser-known bottles.
If you are looking for a relaxed, patio-friendly spot for tapas in Nashville, this is a lovely choice. Keep in mind that their service window is fairly short, as they usually close by 9:00 PM on weeknights.

Fantastic little restaurant off the beaten path. Food was delicious not a bad thing of the 4 we tried… Our Server Mercedes was fantastic. She kept our drinks filled and had great knowledge of the Menu. The Ambience was quiet and pleasant with light music in good taste in the background… We will be back.

Great ambiance and delicious food! The parking lot is small so be ready to find parking and walk. The service was great and the choices were plentiful. We tried the crispy artichokes, green salad, butternut squash croquettes, and the most unique delicious chicken sandwich with house bread, aioli, sesame chili crunch, cured egg yolk, and a small salad
