The Best Cupcakes in Nashville for Your Sweet Tooth

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Flavor Profile and Variety: We evaluated the depth of taste and the uniqueness of the menu offerings. Bakeries providing a mix of classic staples and inventive creations scored highly in our assessment.

Ingredient Quality: The use of fresh, high-quality, and locally sourced ingredients was a major consideration. We looked for shops that bake from scratch daily to ensure superior texture.

Dietary Inclusivity: Accommodating different dietary needs is crucial for modern dessert shops. We paid special attention to establishments offering dedicated vegan or gluten-free options without compromising taste.

Overall Value: We weighed the price per treat against the portion size and the overall eating experience. Establishments that offered premium desserts at reasonable price points stood out heavily.

Music City might be famous for hot chicken, but the local dessert scene is just as vibrant. Whether you’re a local dessert lover on the hunt for a weekend treat, an event planner organizing a big bash, or a tourist exploring the city, finding the best cupcakes in Nashville is a must.

I have scoured the local bakeries to find the most indulgent, flavorful treats the city has to offer. You might want to stop by one of these to cap off a meal from one of the top local restaurants. As the saying goes, there’s always room for dessert!

Built on a deeply inspiring foundation of resilience, The Cupcake Collection started with just five dollars and grew into a beloved local institution.

Their signature Sweet Potato Cupcake is an absolute standout, offering a perfectly balanced, nostalgic flavor that sets them apart from typical bakeries. I recently swung by to grab a dozen for a friend’s birthday, and the light, fluffy texture paired with their carefully balanced frosting was a massive hit.

The family-centered approach here makes every single visit feel warm and welcoming.

However, placing a custom order can occasionally be frustrating. A few patrons have noted delayed responses or communication hiccups when coordinating desserts for larger events, so you might need to follow up a couple of times.

Pros

  • Unique signature sweet potato flavor
  • Strong national media reputation
  • High popularity and local demand
  • Nationwide shipping available

Cons

  • Occasional communication delays
  • Order reliability issues for large events

a warm and welcoming atmosphere

The Cupcake Collection is an absolute gem! The cupcakes were incredibly delicious—moist, flavorful, and perfectly sweet. The service was just as wonderful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel like family. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!

so kind and understanding!

visited nashville to celebrate my boyfriend and i’s birthdays. i ordered him a cake and scheduled an uber courier to pick up my order for me. i wasn’t clear enough in my pick up description which caused confusion resulting in a cupcake being delivered rather than the cake i had ordered. i called in and explained the situation and the woman i spoke to was so kind and understanding! she apologized for the mistake (even though i did contribute to the confusion) and sent someone from the store to bring the cake to our hotel! thank you thank you thank you!! 🙂

Great selection

Great selection of cake slices, cookies and cupcakes- even if you are just walking in- so cute! Also, free sample of various offered cakes- that differ every day. Today was the vanilla cake- yum! I got the Sees candies Scotchmallow cupcakes! – because I am a Sees fan- and a cupcake fan. Fabulous!

always fresh, super flavorful

I got the cake from this place and it was really good. Everyone at the party loved it and kept asking where I got it from. The texture was soft and it wasn’t too sweet, just perfect. Their cupcakes are my favorite too. They are always fresh, super flavorful, and just melt in your mouth. This has definitely become my go-to spot for cakes and cupcakes.

Finding delicious baked goods that accommodate strict dietary needs is incredibly easy at this local favorite. Sunflower Bakehouse specializes exclusively in one hundred percent vegan and gluten-free cupcakes, operating a dedicated allergy-friendly kitchen space.

My coworker, who has severe gluten sensitivities, swears by their rotating seasonal flavors and visits almost every week to see what new creations they have dreamed up. Their unique menu features creative options like lavender vanilla and lemon curd, proving that restricted diets can still be deeply satisfying.

You can even grab a full plant-based meal here before indulging in dessert.

That said, the fully vegan approach does mean a smaller selection for traditional bakery fans, and those specifically craving heavy butter-based frosting might find the offerings a bit different.

Pros

  • Fully vegan and gluten-free
  • Dedicated allergy-friendly kitchen
  • Unique and seasonal flavor options
  • Full-service plant-based menu

Cons

  • Limited appeal for traditional tastes
  • Higher pricing for specialty ingredients

perfect balance of frosting

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Everything here tastes exquisite. It’s so liberating to be able to eat bakery goods that are gluten free and don’t crumble apart. If you didn’t know they were gluten free you wouldn’t notice a difference! Every cupcake is light and fluffy with the perfect balance of frosting. And the focaccia is so flavorful- this is vegan and gluten free done right. A Nashville must-visit !

absolutely delicious

The cakes are absolutely delicious, and for the price of a small cupcake at other places, you can get a bundlet that is a proper piece of cake for a grown up. I got the lemon and the white chocolate raspberry.

Bought a dozen for my coworkers birthday

Going outside the norm of ordinary cupcakes. What a hit! Bought a dozen for my coworkers birthday. The clerk who helped was great. He showed me some birthday decorations we could add which looked so cute. The mini bundts were amazing. Also tried a sample if the snickerdoodle and had to get that to. You will not be disappointed.

get a cupcake for my birthday

I was visiting from out of town and stopped by near closing time to get a cupcake for my birthday. I had to use the restroom quickly so I was pleasantly surprised later by the extra treats in my bag. The customer service was excellent.

My children absolutely love this shop

I absolutely love everything about this bakery! The owner is always so kind to my family! She even took it upon herself to remember that my son has a tree nut allergy. She always has something for him to enjoy. My children absolutely love this shop and tells me that everyone that works there feels like family. Not to mention the delicious treats. I love that there is always so much to choose from and everything is reasonably priced. 10/10 I recommend everyone to try the banana pudding and cupcakes!
