Sometimes, a great textile find even saves you a trip to local tailors or inspires you to hire a professional organizer to manage your growing swatch stash. It’s never enough, though, is it?
This time, you might be heading back to Nashville’s best fabric shops to hunt down authentic Kurdish silks, digging for budget-friendly reclaimed upholstery, or sourcing trade-exclusive luxury drapery.
Either way, finding the perfect material shouldn’t require wandering aimlessly down the wrong aisles of the craft store. Well, that’s why I did the hard work for you, hauling test strips back to my workspace to find the spots that survived our swatch tests.
Read on for my reviewed picks!

Schedule:

Searching for authentic cultural textiles often leads to dead ends in typical craft aisles. Botani Fabrics solves this by focusing exclusively on Kurdish and Middle Eastern materials right on Nolensville Pike.
Owner Rahwan Botani brings genuine expertise from his time running a similar family business in Duhok, Kurdistan. His background ensures you get proper materials for traditional garments like the Kras and Kaw.
I stopped by their storefront recently, and the intricate detailing on their specialty stock really stands out. Plus, their website features clear pricing and catalog options to help you budget even before leaving the house.
Since they focus heavily on regional apparel, you might need to go elsewhere for standard quilting cottons. Specific patterns occasionally sell out online, so checking availability before starting a big project is a smart move.

When you tackle a big home renovation, you need a solid spot for high-quality drapery and upholstery. The Fabric House operates as a full-service design studio, offering hundreds of in-stock decorator fabrics alongside custom fabrication services.
They also source materials directly from manufacturers, keeping everyday pricing low without making you wait for sales.
I love how their staff easily walks DIYers and professional designers through tricky projects like custom window treatments.
Browsing their massive inventory is surprisingly simple because everything is sorted strictly by color. You can pick up drapery hardware and lamps to finish an entire room in one visit.
Just keep in mind that their return policy is strict, and cut materials are generally non-refundable. Some shoppers mention that floor staff availability fluctuates on busy weekend afternoons, too.

3. Smart Art + Craft Supplies

Address: 2416 Music Valley Drive, Suite 106
Contact: (615) 454-5808
Schedule:
- Mon-Fri 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sat-Sun 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Budget constraints should never stop your creative vision. Smart Art + Craft Supplies runs a clever thrift-and-reuse model, with nearly all items priced under $5.
It’s notable how this social enterprise keeps usable materials out of landfills while using profits to support vocational programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. They also act as a community hub by hosting accessible classes and volunteer events.
Since the inventory relies entirely on donations, every shopping trip feels like a treasure hunt for vintage textiles and unusual trims.
I grabbed a bundle of reclaimed upholstery scraps here last month, and scoring such distinct textures for pocket change was amazing.
While this setup is a lot of fun, the inconsistent selection can be troublesome if you need something exact. You might struggle to find specific yardage amounts, and some donated materials naturally show some wear and tear.

4. Music City Textiles

Website: https://musiccitytextiles.com/
Address: 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 238,
Contact: (615) 473-3727
Schedule: Mon-Sat 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Finding a spot focused on garment construction can be tough in neighborhoods dominated by quilting shops. Music City Textiles fills this gap by combining retail yardage with professional alteration services.
This neighborhood storefront gives locals a welcoming space to feel the drape of a fabric before buying. By actively listening to community requests, the staff frequently special-orders specific silks or knits that fashion students need.
The shop is also steadily growing its stock and updating offerings based on what the local sewing community actually wants.
Since this is a relatively new operation, the overall inventory remains on the smaller side. So, if you need massive aisles of basic cottons, you might find the current on-hand selection a bit limiting.

Great selection of fabrics
They have more fabric now than when they first opened. Button selection is not what I expected but I think that will improve. I bought a lawn plaid for another Wren blouse. Go check them out: friendly, great selection of fabrics, location is nice!
