We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: We looked for automotive shops offering a solid mix of full vehicle inspections and focused diagnostic testing. This means you can get a basic multi-point check or a deeper condition assessment in one reliable spot. Pricing Packages: We looked closely at how clearly each garage prices its diagnostic work. We favored businesses that include free courtesy checks with other maintenance or provide transparent flat rates for deeper investigations. Specialist Approach: Mechanics need specific knowledge to evaluate different engine types accurately, so we considered shops experienced with both domestic and imported vehicles. Finding places that offer highly thorough inspections and expert feedback was a big priority for us. Location and Accessibility: A good mechanic should be easy to reach, so all chosen providers are located conveniently within Nashville proper. Plus, we made sure each shop is easy to contact and hassle-free to schedule with. Staff Credentials: You need mechanics you can trust, which is why we focused heavily on well-reviewed local providers with proven technicians. Our final picks highlight professionals with a solid track record of reliable assessments and deep community trust.

Definitely my new go-to for auto repairs!
Highly recommend Simpson’s! They do high quality work, the staff is friendly and trustworthy, and their prices are fair.

I went in for an inspection after hearing noises coming from my wheel bearings and they were able to inspect and repair the damage in one morning. Definitely my new go to for auto repairs!

Excellent customer service and great communication
Honest & fair pricing.  I came in for one thing, had an inspection done and it was reccomended that I tackle another issue I was already aware of first.  This other issue was a safety concern and the costs of both issues were equivalent.  I was working on a budget so safety first.  I feel they did a thorough job with same day service,   Tony has excellent customer service and great communication.  I also appreciate the upfront pricing.

Diagnosed the problem quickly and did good work
They were very nicer and accommodating and got our repair turned around in short time. They diagnosed the problem quickly and did good work. Probably not the cheapest but I would rather pay more for good work done right the first time and not have to take my car back because something wasn’t done right. We will definitely use them again.

Can’t recommend them highly enough!
PK and the team at Lawson and Sons are amazing. They are the only place I’ll take any of my vehicles moving forward. In the past, I’ve worked with multiple dealerships and driven long distances to shops i hoped i could trust. Lawson and Sons are the only place I have truly come to trust implicitly for an honest assessment, every time. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Awesome shop with extremely knowledgeable staff!
I brought Phoenix Auto a car that I was looking to buy and had them inspect it before purchase. They took it in and immediately found a whole host of issues that needed to be addressed. They did a great job of showing and explaining what all needed done. They also took pictures of everything that was wrong and uploaded them to a link that I could access. They gave me a recommendation on what to do with the car and sent me on my way. This is an awesome shop with extremely knowledgeable staff! I would highly recommend!

Check them out
I was in a similar position to another reviewer, daughter recently moved to Nashville and needed some reassurance about the brakes on the car which were noisy. I was able to chat with them and arrange an inspection, which luckily found nothing untoward with the brakes. They were even kind enough to add air to the tires. Very friendly shop, would recommend you check them out.

Highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their car!
They did an inspection for me before I bought a used car through Craigslist. AMAZING JOB!! They let me and the seller both be present during the inspection, which really helped everyone to really understand where the car was at and therefore helped negotiation. They fixed up everything incredibly well and super fast!! Very impressed and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their car!

You basically get the accuracy and expertise of a dealership, but with the straightforward pricing of an independent shop. This ensures all evaluations meet the strict performance rules set directly by the original manufacturers.
