The 5 Best Architects in Nashville for Building Better Than You Imagined

architects-in-nashville
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Design Philosophy: I checked how each firm approaches new projects and turns ideas into actual spaces. I wanted to see if their work feels thoughtful, consistent, and practical in real life.

Local Experience: I focused on architects who really understand Middle Tennessee’s building rules and environment. This matters because local knowledge can save time and prevent avoidable issues.

Sustainability Practices: I also examined whether they use eco-friendly, energy-efficient design methods. I included this because a better design today can mean lower costs and less environmental impact later.

Client Communication: I paid attention to how clearly they communicate with clients throughout a project. I find this important because good communication helps avoid confusion and expensive mistakes later on.

Have you ever felt that choosing the right architect in Nashville is even more challenging than the building process? Picking the wrong one could mean your dream space ends up looking nothing like you imagined.

If you’re planning a renovation, building something new, or working with kitchen remodel contractors and landscaping services for a full property update, the right architect will help tie everything together.

So, to help you cut through the confusion, I put together this guide. Read on to focus only on architects who can actually deliver great results for your project and budget!

How much does an architect cost in Nashville?

1. EOA Architects

eoa-architects

Website: http://eoa-architects.com/

Address: 515 Main Street

Contact: 615 242 4004 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM-6:00 PM | Friday, 8:00  AM-12:00 PM

Curious about architects who infuse real meaning into their work? EOA Architects is a solid choice if so.

Here, they approach every project as a chance to tell a story through design. What’s even more impressive is how they balance restoring historic structures while still adding modern, usable updates.

What’s convenient is that they handle architecture, interiors, and planning in one place, making projects feel more connected and less chaotic.

They also take sustainability seriously, even committing to the AIA 2030 net-zero goals, which is a big deal in the industry.

That said, they’re clearly built for large-scale civic and commercial work. For smaller residential projects, the cost and scope might feel too heavy for what you actually need.

Pros

  • Deep local civic influence
  • Proven institutional reliability
  • Leaders in green building
  • Comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach

Cons

  • Less focus on small residential
  • Highly localized geographic footprint

Customer Reviews

Technical excellence and attention to detail

Our firm has collaborated on dozens of projects both large and small over the past two decades.  EOA consistently demonstrates a high level of creativity, technical excellence and attention to detail that results in outstanding projects. They are excellent project managers with an emphasis on professionalism and responsiveness to the client’s needs. I  highly recommend EOA Architects.

Talented creative firm of dedicated designers

We have had the privilege of working with EOA for some 20 years. They are a talented creative firm of dedicated designers. Their projects always have an element of fun associated with them and they are always looking for new ways to express their design. Young but experienced. A great firm located in Nashville.

2. HASTINGS Architecture

hastings-architecture

Website: http://www.hastingsarchitecture.com/

Address: 225 Polk Ave.

Contact: 615 329 1399 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00  AM-5:00 PM | Friday, 8:00  AM-3:00 PM

What makes HASTINGS Architecture interesting is that they don’t impose a “signature look” on every project. Instead, they design with context in mind, so each building feels unique to its surroundings.

They’re also widely recognized as one of the strongest firms in the Southeast, backed by major sustainability certifications and over 150 LEED projects.

HASTINGS Architecture also brings deep knowledge of Nashville’s urban development, including contributions to large-scale city modeling. This gives them a strong advantage when working on complex commercial spaces.

The downside is that their scale makes them less accessible for smaller or more personal projects. If you’re hoping for a boutique-style experience or a very specific aesthetic, their broad design approach might feel too flexible.

Pros

  • Top-tier national ranking
  • Deep Nashville urban expertise
  • Over 150 LEED certifications
  • Diverse cross-sector portfolio

Cons

  • Geared toward huge commercial projects
  • Lacks a single signature aesthetic

Customer Review

While I merely happened into Hastings to pick up my employer’s lil babe, Hastings blew my mind. I happened upon a mecca of ideation primed to heal the landscape of Nashville. The communal orientation and spirit of this place is transformative. It gave me a whole new perspective on what it looks like to take your steps and decide to imagine for the whole a brave new world. Well done Hastings.

3. Michael Goorevich Architect, PLLC.

Website: http://www.michaelgoorevich.com/

Address: 95 Whitebridge Road

Contact: 716 725 1615 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

Are you a fan of spacious, light-filled homes with a modern vibe? Michael Goorevich Architect is known for designing residences that feel both fresh and inviting, all while blending seamlessly with Tennessee’s local character.

What really caught my attention was Michael’s emphasis on natural light. His designs often feature big windows and layouts that make spaces feel open and connected.

Since he runs a smaller firm, clients get to work with him personally from start to finish, rather than being shuffled among different people.

The biggest drawback is that his style leans heavily toward modern design, so he may not be the best fit if you prefer a more traditional look. Also, since his firm is a smaller operation, project timelines can be longer during busy periods.

Pros

  • Regional modern design authority
  • Principal-led boutique service
  • Expertise in climate-specific materials
  • High local and national prestige

Cons

  • Strictly minimalist and modern style
  • Limited project capacity

Customer reviews

Ability to receive client requests and translate them into something beautiful

Michael is an outstanding architect, who has the unique ability to receive client requests and translate them into something beautiful.  For our project, he was involved in the design, the drawings, site visits with the builder and the landscaper.  No detail was too small for his involvement.  We ended up with a renovation, pool and pool house that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Vision and guidance made this project possible

Michael was a perfect match for our renovation project. We wanted to transform the low ceilings and small rooms of our 1960s ranch to open, light-filled spaces. We also wanted clean modern lines with natural wood featuring prominently in the design. Michael’s vision and guidance made this project possible. We are thrilled with the results!

4. CW Architects

cw-architects

Website: https://www.cwarch.design/

Address: 1100 Kermit Drive

Contact: 615 578 3419 / [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

What if you could walk through your future home before construction even begins? Well, that’s what first caught my attention about CW Architects.

This firm has Virtual Reality walkthroughs that let homeowners see a design before making major commitments. With their approach, it’s much easier to spot changes early and avoid costly surprises later on.

I also like how they approach modern architecture. Instead of creating spaces that feel cold or overly minimalist, they focus on natural materials and comfortable, welcoming living areas.

From what I’ve observed, the team also stays involved throughout the construction process. Many clients have praised how well they coordinate with contractors to keep projects moving smoothly.

The biggest downside is that they serve the luxury custom home market, so their services may be out of reach for some budgets. Their work also leans heavily toward modern design, which may not suit homeowners looking for a more traditional style.

Pros

  • Virtual Reality walkthroughs
  • Warm modern design approach
  • Contractor coordination support
  • Natural material expertise

Cons

  • Premium pricing
  • Modern-focused portfolio

Customer Reviews

Responsive, patient, creative, easy to work with

Jacob at CW Architects is responsive, patient, creative, easy to work with and incredibly ambitious to exceed even the highest expectations.

Our plan included a large new addition and extensive renovation of our existing 1958 home.

The way the new ties in with the old is nothing short of magical…the continuity is flawless.

We are beyond grateful to be the benefactors of this firm’s talent.

Seamless and stress free our experience

My husband and I are currently working on our forever home with Jacob and his team. I cannot say enough about how seamless and stress free our experience has been! He is an expert listener and communicator and has understood our vision from day one. He is a master of detail and we are thrilled to continue through the architectural design process. We highly recommend his expertise!

5. ArchiNerd

archinerd

Website: https://www.archinerd.com/

Address: 1521B Russell St.

Contact: 615 669 1499

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM-5 PM | Friday, 9:00  AM-4:00 PM

ArchiNerd caught my attention since they know their way around historic homes and are great at keeping their character while making updates. Old houses have a special charm, but fixing them up can get stressful fast if you don’t have the right help.

What I liked most was how they work differently with each client. Instead of using the same plan every time, they listen to your goals, budget, and timeline.

I also think it’s cool that an architect and an interior designer team up from the very beginning, so everything matches in the end. Plus, they know all about local rules and permits, which makes the whole process smoother.

The main drawback is that ArchiNerd is a smaller firm, so they may not be the best fit for large commercial or industrial projects. Their portfolio also leans heavily toward residential work.

Pros

  • Verified historic preservation expertise
  • Dual-discipline design integration
  • High-volume local permit experience
  • Strong academic and professional standing

Cons

  • Small team capacity
  • Heavy residential focus bias

Customer Reviews

Very knowledgeable, and there was full transparency

We really enjoyed working with Brent and the ArchiNerd team on a custom addition to our home including an elevator, a covered patio and a bathroom. They listened to us and coordinated with the general contractor to come up with an architectural design that meets our needs. Our interactions were productive and pleasant, Brent’s very knowledgeable, and there was full transparency on charges/fees/timeline etc. We are excited about next steps, and we’ll continue working with Brent as the addition progresses! Padma & Steve

Responded quickly and accurately to our requests

Brent worked with us on the design and prepared the construction drawings for a major remodel of a new to us home in Laurelbrooke. The project includes gutting and redesigning and replacing the kitchen and the Principal bathroom as well as four other en suite baths, replacing most of the lighting, and a number of other updates.

He is a pleasure to work with. He responded quickly and accurately to our requests, and was a creative contributor to the process.
