5 Best Bakeries in Nashville: Our Ultimate Guide to the Sweetest Spots

bakeries-in-nashville
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Ingredient Quality: We prioritized shops using premium components like grass-fed butter, organic flours, and high-end chocolate. Sourcing local and sustainable goods played a huge role in our final rankings.

Preparation Methods: Hand-crafted, scratch-made techniques stand out against mass-produced alternatives. We looked for spots that laminate their own dough and bake fresh daily without cutting corners.

Menu Versatility: A standout shop needs to balance classic comfort bakes with inclusive dietary options. Accommodating vegan or gluten-sensitive diets ensures a wider range of patrons can enjoy a sweet treat.

Accessibility and Convenience: Navigating downtown traffic requires easy ordering systems and straightforward pickup logistics.

Establishments offering seamless same-day service or dedicated parking earned higher marks for overall customer satisfaction.

When you wander through Music City, the amazing scent of melting butter and caramelized sugar can easily derail your afternoon plans.

Many food lovers spend their time hunting for the flakiest croissants, and planners often need show-stopping cakes for their special events.

To help you out, I have personally eaten my weight in delicious dough and buttercream to find the perfect spots for your next coffee run.

If you’re looking for the best bakery in Nashville, this guide highlights the very best places for fresh breads and exquisite desserts.

How much do bakery products cost in Nashville?

Expect to pay a premium for artisanal ingredients and custom designs, with everyday morning pastries being quite affordable compared to bespoke celebration cakes.

ItemAverage Cost

1. D’Andrews Bakery & Cafe

d-andrews-bakery-cafe

Website: http://www.dandrewsbakery.com/

Address: 555 Church St

Contact: (615) 375-4934 | [email protected]

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Stepping into this downtown spot, you quickly see why it was a James Beard semifinalist. They do a great job of mixing high-end New York pastry skills with warm Southern hospitality.

D’Andrews Bakery and Cafe makes everything from scratch in their own kitchen. They even roast their own meats and use high-quality butter for their dough.

I recently tried their signature D’onut, which is a sugared brioche filled with vanilla cream. Honestly, the flavor was amazing and totally blew me away.

Owner and lead chef David Andrews draws on his experience to select the best ingredients, such as Valrhona chocolate, to ensure every bite is special.

However, you should know that they close early at 2 PM. This means you can’t satisfy a late-afternoon sugar craving here.

Plus, parking can be a bit of a challenge. You will have to find street parking or pay for a garage, which makes a quick pastry run a little more complicated.

Pros

  • James Beard Award semifinalist recognition
  • Premium 84 percent butter and Valrhona chocolate
  • Scratch-made breads, syrups, and roasted meats
  • Expert leadership from a NYC-trained pastry chef

Cons

  • Closes early at 2 PM daily
  • No dedicated on-site parking

Customer Reviews:

Very good variety of different types of pastries!
loved that it was literally down the street from the hotel we were staying at, desserts were delicious! I’d say it was worth the wait, only downside was that the place is small so when it’s busy it gets crowded! But all in all the croissants 🥐 were delicious and had a very good variety of different types of pastries!

The inside was nicely decorated and smelled amazing!
This place was very nice we got a variety of pastries. They were all amazing the only complaint we have is the apple left a very orange dye on our hands/ mouth other then that they were great 0 complaints taste wise. Everything was very fresh ( we went at 9am) they opened at 8. The inside was nicely decorated and smelled amazing! Pricing wasn’t bad items range from 3$-10 pastries wise. Our overall total for everything we got was 85$ which the items were big and filling so well worth it

2. Five Daughters Bakery | 12th South

five-daughters-bakery-12th-south

Website: http://fivedaughtersbakery.com/

Address: 1110 Caruthers Ave

Contact: (615) 490-6554

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM | until sold out
  • Saturday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM | until sold out

Biting into a dense, towering pastry that takes four days to make really changes how you look at a morning treat.

Five Daughters Bakery has a huge following because of their famous 100-Layer Donut. This is a croissant-style hybrid made with organic ingredients and grass-fed butter.

The family behind the bakery has three generations of baking history, so every item is handled with care rather than mass-produced. Also, if you are looking for something a bit healthier, you can skip the yeast dough and try one of their Paleo options.

Because they put so much work into their food, these pastries do come with a higher price tag. You should probably think of them as a fancy restaurant for dessert rather than just a casual snack.

If you’re planning a big event, also keep in mind that they have some strict rules. You will need to give them three days’ notice, and there are extra fees for weddings.

Pros

  • Signature 100-Layer Donut
  • Non-GMO and locally sourced ingredients
  • Third-generation family-owned business
  • Paleo diet-friendly donut options

Cons

  • Premium price point per item
  • Strict rules for large event orders

Customer Reviews:

Soft, flavorful, and beautifully made
We just visited 5 Daughter Bakery for the first time, and wow what a treat! The donuts are incredible. Soft, flavorful, and beautifully made. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be coming back highly recommend this bakery to anyone in the area!

This place is known for their 100 Layer Donuts
I loved this bakery! This place is known for their 100 Layer Donuts, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the minis of The Purest (glazed), Vanilla Cream, Milk Chocolate Sprinkles, and Strawberry Fields. The large one that I got was the Maple Gazed.

3. Dozen Bakery

dozen-bakery

Website: http://www.dozen-nashville.com/

Address: 2522 Grandview Ave

Contact: (615) 712-8150 | [email protected]

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Saturday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Sustainability and freshness come together perfectly at this Climate Neutral Certified shop. They have a strict rule against selling any day-old bread, which matches the high-quality standards you find at the best restaurants in town.

Dozen Bakery makes almost everything from scratch using organic flours. They even go as far as making their own almond paste and hot sauce in-house.

I really admire how they support the community through their seasonal loaf program, which donates a portion of sales to local charities.

If you’re a home baker, you can ask for a free sourdough starter with your morning coffee to try out. However, getting these treats for a weekend brunch can be a little tricky. They stop taking phone orders and preorders on Saturdays and Sundays.

Also, if you need a guaranteed batch of pastries for a weekday, you must place your order at least 48 hours ahead of time.

Pros

  • Climate Neutral Certified operations
  • Strict zero-day-old pastry policy
  • Free sourdough starter for home bakers
  • Charitable donations from seasonal loaves

Cons

  • 48-hour notice required for preorders
  • No holds or preorders accepted on weekends

Customer Reviews:

Definitely a spot worth visiting
I had a great breakfast here! The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked—soft and fresh—paired with a warm, fresh-baked baguette topped with melted cheddar. I also had their in-house vanilla iced coffee, which was absolutely delicious. If you’re up for it, definitely pair it with some fresh orange juice too. And yes, I admit—I took a bite of the blueberry muffin before the picture, but it was delicious as well! Definitely a spot worth visiting.

Really good
Went looking for donuts for a large meeting. Not a donut shop but had great other options. I got the egg sandwich with pesto and sharp cheddar. It came on toasted wheat bread. Wow. Really good.

4. Baked on 8th

baked-on-8th

Website: https://www.bakedon8th.com/

Address: 1512 8th Ave S

Contact: (615) 933-1100

Hours:

  • Monday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Sunday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Baked on 8th has earned a wonderful reputation by offering award-winning custom cakes and gourmet versions of nostalgic childhood snacks.

I recently shared their vibrant Cosmique Brownies with a friend before we headed out to an Italian restaurant, and the rich, elevated flavor completely won me over.

On top of the sweets, they serve as a convenient one-stop shop, offering custom balloon installations and curated party supplies.

Just keep in mind that getting one of these gorgeous desserts requires a bit of a budget, since even the small six-inch cakes start at a premium price.

You also want to arrive early in the morning. Their most popular seasonal items often sell out quickly to walk-in customers who beat the rush.

Pros

  • Award-winning custom celebration cakes
  • Convenient same-day online ordering
  • Nostalgic childhood treats elevated with gourmet flavors
  • On-site party supplies and custom balloons

Cons

  • High starting price for small cakes
  • Popular seasonal items sell out quickly

5. Paris Baguette

paris-baguette

Website: https://parisbaguette.com/locations/tn/nashville/1109-church-street/

Address: 1109 Church Street

Contact: (629) 240-2388

Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Sunday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Finding a spacious, modern cafe that mixes classic French pastry techniques with bold Asian flavors is such a refreshing change for the local food scene.

Paris Baguette offers an impressive all-day menu with everything from delicate Mochi Donuts to their famous Strawberry Soft Cream Cake.

Whether you’re a night owl or a late-afternoon studier, this is a great spot because they stay open until 9:00 PM every single evening. Another nice perk is that guests get the rare luxury of an attached garage with free parking right in the middle of downtown.

But since this is a massive global franchise, it might lack the local charm many people look for in a neighborhood bakery.

Also, keep in mind that their current online ordering system is going through a big software update. This can occasionally make quick digital pickups a bit complicated for busy commuters.

Still, the unique variety and convenience make it a solid choice.

Pros

  • Unique Asian-inspired French pastry fusion
  • Extended evening operating hours until 9:00 PM
  • Free attached garage parking for guests
  • Signature whole cakes available daily

Cons

  • Lacks independent local charm
  • Current online ordering system is glitchy

Customer Reviews:

Paris Baguette is an awesome bakery and sandwich shop. All their products are top notch and made to be pretty, delicious and tasty. Drop by and give them a try. I’m sure you will fall in love with Paris Baguette as much as I am. The staff is friendly and so helpful. The products are pretty and great eating. Some of my favorites are the strawberry soft cake and cheese soft cake.

The cafe was modern and cozy
we came in about an hour before they closed so most items weren’t available. we knew we wouldn’t be able to have a good selection but we just picked up some small little desserts. the cafe was modern and cozy and still had about everything we were craving.
